Emulsion Putty

Being dual use, for gap filling AND for smoothing dips in the walls, these versatile compounds come premixed, ready to use, in a container.  This means that the premixed emulsion putty needs to be able to accommodate both being used directly, as well as mixed with extra water to reduce tconsistency. . This calls for a high-viscosity thickener with shear-thinning rheology.

GinShiCel MH modified cellulose ethers provide this kind of thixotropic behavior. Developed with ease of use in mind, the -SD grades can be directly mixed into water or aqueous solutions without the risk of premature viscosity development.  To initiate viscosity build, pH of the solution just need to be adjusted to around 8. Within 10 to 20 minutes, full viscosity development will finish.

Water-based Emulsion Paint

Water-borne paint, latex paint, emulsion paint, all describe the same thing: water-based latex emulsion paint.  These paint usually have fairly complex rheology and, system-wise, need to have a perfect balance of chemical properties to achieve a host of characteristics, such as spatter control, color acceptance, stability, good suspension, and easy re-mixing, as well as foam control and scrub resistance.

GinShiCel cellulose ethers, both MH and HE grades, along with many other additives, can help these modern, environmentally friendly, and complex formulations achieve all these goals.

Typically, lower-viscosity products have more spatter control and hiding power, and higher-viscosity products have more shear-thinning and easier workability
